How Active Is Your Facility?

Inductive devices are basically motors and transformers.  Since the majority of transient activity actually comes from within your
own facility, it will be the facilities that have the most loads turning on and off (activity) that sees the most “noise” in their electrical system.

The chart below shows which loads typical types of businesses have and what percentage of the electrical cost is associated with these different loads.  This information is derived from data supplied form the US Department of Energy and includes all electrical
costs.

The loads shown in shades of GREY are those that are NOT “inductive” in nature.  The less GREY, the more benefit you receive from installing transient voltage surge suppression equipment using a “full coverage” strategy.
